Not Just a Mommy Blogger
Hey everyone! My name is Kayla and I’m so happy you came across my blog! I guess I would be considered a “mommy blogger” as I am a stay at home mom. I started this blog in August 2016 in hopes of being a fun, creative outlet for me. Also, I hope to encourage and inspire other mom out there, and offer something of value to my readers. Being a stay at home mom can be a challenge, but also an unbelievably rewarding job that you don’t often get much credit for. I will share organizational, health, and money tips, recipes, funny stories as well as emotional ones, and much more! Some mommy related stuff and others just women stuff! You’ll just have to continue reading my blog to find out everything else I will offer you! At the very least, I hope I can make you smile, and encourage you as we are all in this together!
Income Would Be Awesome
So let’s be honest, I would love to make some sort of income with this blog. My husband works away a lot, and nothing would make me happier than for me to provide us with a little more income so he can be home with us every night. Speaking of my husband, Jonathan aka Jon, he works in oilfield construction. He has been with this job for going on six years now, and over the years we have learned strategies with our budget as he usually only works about 9-10 months out of the year. There is always some down time throughout the year we need to plan for, which stretches our budget thin at times. I’m sure many can relate to this!
My Beautiful Family
Onto my family! I am mother to two amazingly, beautiful children. I have a little boy, Landon, and a little girl, Calisty. Currently, they are 3 and 2; only 15 months apart! No, we did not plan that, but it turned out to be a huge blessing as we have been trying for a year now to have another one, and still nothing. I am very happy and blessed with just the two however, and am very fortunate that I was able to bring to wonderful children into this world. Landon is going to be my little athlete, like his dad, and according to my parents, Calisty is just like me! In some ways that’s a good thing and other ways not so good! Haha!
More About Me
A little more about me. I graduated high school in 2004 and went straight to college at Boise State University. I ended up finishing my Bachelor’s at the University of Wyoming with a degree in Journalism. I have always enjoyed writing so I’m hoping my blog with reflect that. Also, wouldn’t it be a dream job to write all day in the comfort of your own home? I guess for some people that would be a nightmare, however for me, yes, that would be my dream job. Except I would rather be by a beach somewhere typing away on my laptop! After college, I moved back home and started working at the same school my mom worked at. I was a Special Ed. Assistant, which inspired me to go back to school. I was accepted into the online Master’s of Educational Technology program at Boise State, in hopes of becoming a technology teacher. While continuing my education, I substitute taught at a couple different school districts until I completed the program in December 2010. I struggled for a couple years to get a job in my field, and also my husband and I were hit with some news that I had endometriosis. So I stopped the job hunt, and we decided to start our family.
Back To School
Fast forward to now, and I am back in school, getting my Library and Media Specialist Endorsement online, which I will complete in Spring 2017. So in the future, when I decide to go back to work I will hopefully become either a library media specialist (just a fancier word for school librarian) or a technology teacher OR I could potentially make blogging a full time career. Either way, I am always preparing myself for my future!
My Other Interests
When I’m not busy blogging or chasing the kids around, I love designing and decorating in my home. I have an odd fixation with keeping things neat and tidy and organized. I’m definitely a little bit OCD, and it DOES run in my family! My husband and I are constantly remodeling and upgrading things in our home. Since it was built in the 60s, we have our work cut out for us, but I love ALMOST every minute of it! I also enjoy being outdoors; camping has become a favorite pastime for my family. We are so blessed to live in such a great area where the mountains are practically in our backyard. Oh, did I mention I live in Wyoming? I live in a small town called Lander, which is about central Wyoming. We are about three hours from Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park. And yes, we do have highways here! Haha! Also, we love being active; some of our favorite things to do are working out, playing golf, tennis, going for walks, go swimming, and many more fun things which you will soon read about.
Enough For Now…Keep Coming Back Pleeeeeease!
I think that’s enough for now about my family and me. I really hope you keep coming back to check out my posts and hang out with me!
